Kathmandu, July 21 (RSS): Collection of solid waste in Kathmandu valley remains stalled since the past one month, with the capital city now full of heaps of waste all around.

Daily life in Kalimati, Kalanki, Balkhu, Teku, Sitapaila, Balaju, Chabahil and dozens of other locations in Kathmandu remains affected due to the piles of solid waste, and the foul smell from it.
Solid waste management has become a problem after the dumping site for waste from Kathmandu in Sisadole in Nuwakot became full. Every day around 1,000 metric tonnes of solid waste was being managed in in Sisadole.
Though joint-spokesperson at the Kathmandu Municipal Corporation, Nawaraj Dhakal claimed that waste collection began from Tuesday, it continues to be a problem as seen in the thoroughfares of the valley.
According to Dhakal, the road leading to the waste management site is another reason behind the problem. Specially, during the rainy season the road is disturbed, stopping trucks carrying the solid waste to the dumping site. The site in Sisadole was acquired by the KMC 12 years ago, originally planned for two years.
