Indian police designates new protest sites

Authorities de-notified Jantar Mantar as New Delhi's protest site and designated three alternative venues: Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in East Delhi, police said Monday.
The move comes amid protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in voter lists and election administration.
Jantar Mantar, a historic astronomical observatory near India's parliament and key federal government offices, became one of the country's best-known protest sites because of its location.
