Weather update: Westerly winds may bring rain and snow to Nepal throughout Friday
Kathmandu, Oct 26: Country's weather is expected to turn increasingly unsettled from midweek, with the Westerly winds likely to bring rain and snowfall to parts of the Himalayan and hilly regions over the next five days.
''The weather will remain mostly clear across much of the country today, although the Himalayan region will witness some cloud cover,'' informed Rojan Lamichhane, a meteorologist at the Nepal Meteorological Department.
''By Monday night, clouds are expected to develop in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces as the country comes under the partial influence of Westerly winds,'' shared Lamichhane.
On Tuesday, there will be partial cloud cover in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati and Gandaki Province as well as Himalayan regions of Karnali and Sudurpashim Provinces, he added.
The chances of rain and snowfall are likely to increase from Wednesday, particularly in the Himalayan and hilly areas of these four provinces, according to him.
Light precipitation may continue in some areas on Thursday and Friday, the Department said.
The changing weather could affect travel plans and outdoor activities, particularly in mountainous areas.
In this light, the Department has urged tourists, trekkers and mountaineers to remain cautious and keep track of the latest weather forecasts.
It was also forewarned that rain and snowfall could also disrupt daily activities as well as road and air transport in affected areas.
Travellers and local residents in the affected-areas have been advised to stay informed and prepare for possible weather-related disruptions.
