Karnali corridor obstructed due to landslide
Humla, Sept 20: The Karnali corridor has been closed due to a substantial landslide that occurred in Chharebhirin Sarkegad Rural Municipality-2.
The landslide has obstructed approximately 100 meters of the roadway, preventing all vehicular traffic and stranding numerous passengers. Notably, more than 27 individuals from Adanchuli Municipality who were traveling to a health camp in Simkot have been affected by this closure.
These individuals are presently stationed in adjacent fields near Sarkegad, expressing apprehension regarding their timely arrival at their intended destination. Chief District Officer BholanathGuragain has communicated that clearance operations are in progress; however, the presence of substantial boulders presents considerable challenges, rendering conventional equipment unsuitable for removal efforts.
Consultations have been conducted with local authorities and relevant security agencies to commence road-clearing activities beginning Sunday morning.
This corridor has experienced recurring obstructions attributable to natural phenomena, which substantially affects the distribution of vital commodities and services to Humla's population.
