Kathmandu, July 30: The 43rd meeting of the National Security Council (NSC) has decided to make coordination among all security bodies and stakeholders more effective to maintain social harmony and national unity. 

The meeting presided over by Prime Minister and chairperson of the NSC, Balendra Shah, held at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, Singha Durbar, today, reviewed the overall security situation of the country and the Sunsari incident occurred on July 26, said Council's Member Secretary and Secretary of the Defence Ministry, Kedar Nath Sharma.

Sharma mentioned that a decision was also taken to carry out work more efficiently in order to maintain social harmony and national unity by coordinating with all security bodies and stakeholders to prevent such incidents in future. 

Similarly, discussion was also held on strengthening cooperation between the bodies concerned to effectively operate search, rescue and relief activities in disaster incidents on time.

On the occasion, Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal said the meeting was briefed that the situation of Sunsari has started being normalized from collective efforts of political parties, local stakeholders and security bodies. 

Emphasis was laid on continuity to dialogue and coordination at local level to normalize the situation, he argued. 

"The meeting also discussed to intensifying necessary dialogue to prevent recurring such incidents, capacity building of security bodies to effectively manage possible risk and crowd and managing necessary means and resources and making training further effective," added Minister Khanal.

Finance Minister, Home Minister, Chief Secretary and Chief of Army Staffs, among others were present in the meeting.
